In Transition

Let’s talk abt love .. for food

3 months at home equal to 3 additional kg and an inches, each to my waist, thighs and already-wide-rear. *sigh*

And all these are contributed by my love. Not him. THE FOOD!

So, im going to talk abt food. My all time favourites. And also food that cure my PMS.

  1. Soto ayam / madura – there are 2 types of soto – w slightly clear, light soup or w murkier(?) soup resulted frm adding some coconut milk in it. Eaten with nasi impit or meehon or mee. My kind of soto must be accompanied by – begedil (this is a must!!! But its hard to find soto along w begedil in here unless u don mind paying another 50cents for a begedil as big as my thumb.. n my thumb aren’t any big.. stingy!) taugeh – slightly cooked but still retain it’s crispiness; sambal kicap made frm cili api– it has to be spicy, sweet n sour; su-un goring; shredded chicken flesh – don’t be too stingy laa.. n ended up shredding the chicken as thin as a floss. X syiOk! ; garnish with thinly sliced spring onion n bawang goring. WALA!! A BIG NO - kacang goring.. unoriginal. The soup – not too thin (unlike some ppl who sell their soto simply by using chicken stock n rempah sup bonjot. Come on!! There are a lot of ingredient u’ve missed!! Lots of onions, serai, buah keras, lengkuas AND (this is imptnt) daun salam and daun limau purut. It makes a big difference! Arghhhh!!.) SO far the best soto is made by kak mas, over at nek wan’s place. We managed to get hold of the recipes and tried it out, but still nothing can beat kak mas’s.
Soto to watch – the one in upper changi road. (haven’t tried it tho)
  2. Mee Rebus Johor – there are various version – mee rebus stulang, mee rebus lan janggut, mee rebus wahid. But my fav is wahid's. I love watching them preparing the dish. Firstly, a handful of mee n taugeh is put inside a strainer n blanched in boiling water for under a minute. Remove and place in a dish. Put half of boiled egg at the side n pour the gravy ( the thickness [frm using sweet potatoes – NOT flour]) n sweetness (beef stock – hours of boiling tulang lembu.. nyum2) of the gravy is just right – all over it. Generously. Garnish with ‘kerak’ – fried crispy batter, to add some crunchiness in it. Add a dash of vinegar n light soya sauce n voila!! For added spiciness, there’s always slices of green chilli. The taugeh is still crispy, the mee isn’t over-cooked – still springy. Yummy!
Mee rebus to watch – Mee rebus Haji Wahid at angsana (RM 3.50)
  3. Nanas cicah sambal kicap tabur serbuk asam – my friend Wani introduced me to this ultimate cure for PMS. Hehehe. Putting a piece of nanas covered w the sambal n asam in ur mouth… n feel the explosion of different taste in our mouth. Sweet, followed by sour n lastly spicy. Ur face will definitely get distorted. Hehe. just love it. sold for rm 2 at roadside stall beside LRT Universiti.
  4. Yong Tau Fu Pak Din - what i love the most abt yong tau fu pak din is the soup which is very2 light n refreshing. w/o a hint of sweetness frm using MSG. yes, pak din also sell yong tau fo JB style - eaten w soup. even the sauces (yong tau foo KL style) arent too sweet. generous w the kangkung. the prices are range from 50cents - 60 cents for each item. available at Pasar Minggu Kg Bharu, KL
  5. Pisang Goreng TNB - the stall is outside pencawang TNB at jln stulang/kilat. i think the seller already made million by selling pisang n cempedak goreng. perfect batter n sambal kicap too. hehe.
  6. Popia Basah - at jln biru, tmn pelangi. nothing can beats the popiah. homemade skins w the filling made from sengkuang, carrot, sambal (spicy n sweet) n kacang. ahhh.. perfect for tea time.

Writing abt food made me hungry. And im trying to lose weight for crying out loud!!! mebe i shud stop here. ;)
