Ali Baba - The Musical
As we all know, there are many versions of Ali Baba and this play is adapted from Ali Baba we all grew up with, witty lines and songs which would stuck in our heads for ages! It’s the P Ramlee version of course. The stars of the theater are mostly kids of 10 to 12 years old, with Aznil as Ketua Penyamun *need to selit some star somewhere huh?* It was full house, and we secured fabulous seats which offered us the best view.
Watching kids performing has always been entertaining, who cares about tarian berterabur by the penyamun as pointed out by my cousin, or even the cute Sarjan Penyamun who got up a tiny bit early after being killed by boiling oil just before the lights were dimmed? The beauty lies in the confidence exhibited by each of them, and their perseverance in training for many many months; which in the end produced a spectacular performance! Bravo for these kids. :)
the one with the snake costume, ngam ngam kat tengah2, is the cousin as Mak Ular.
My favourite part of the acts are with the boisterous penyamuns, with this cute little boy who would turn 6 in a week time as the Sargeant. With Aznil being..well Aznil, the little boy sort of complimented his act by providing most of the awww-so-cute and hilarious scenes.
The Ketua Penyamun. I hope i didn't piss him off with my camera flash. hehe. Oh, and i heard he's living in the same apartment compound as me! helloooo neighbour!
The sleepy 6 year old Sarjan Penyamun after the play with his dad. He was being carried around either by the Ketua Penyamun or other penyamun in most of the scenes. All together now... "Awwwwwwww"
However, the 2 hours play (which is consider as a standard) is deemed to be a bit long-ish by my niece and some of the kids in the audience. “Banyak nyanyi-nyanyi lah”, said a cousin and the niece. Well, it did say “teater muzikal” :) Just sit back and enjoy the songs.
